چکیده
In this study, a photo-baffled reactor was operated to assess the performance of microalgal-nitrifying bacteria consortia in treating ammonia with its input concentration up 180 mg-N·L−1. The six-compartment reactor, total effective volume 3.2 L, run continuously for 350 days at 30 °C. Overall, 66 ± 11% removed nitrogen loading rate 0.083 0.011 kg-N·m−3·day−1. addition, long-term, stable partial nitrification confirmed nitrite 60 26 mg-N·L−1 effluent. On 200 and 350, due inhibition from nitrite-oxidizing (NOB) activity, dissolved oxygen free recorded as low 0.3–0.7 mg·L−1 14–24 each column, respectively. special configuration created competitive environment between Chlorella vulgaris nitrifying bacteria. microbial community structure retained sludge indicated that although detected only 2–3% upstream, ammonia-oxidizing Nitrosomonas europaea increased downstream reactor. Meanwhile, detection NOB less than 0.05% column based on quantitative polymerase chain reaction analysis, growth inhibited. Therefore, these microalgae-nitrifying have potential be novel process post-treatment using anammox process.

Seeding of Nitrifying Bacteria as a Way for Nitrification Improvement
Seeding of nitrifying bacteria into the activated sludge process may decrease the necesary volume needs for a stable nitrification process. Both theoretical and experimental studies were carried out in order to evaluate the effects of seeding. A model was developed for prediction of the effects of seeding of nitrifying bacteria from a separate stage into the activated sludge process. Seeding te...
متن کاملNitrification and Nitrifying Bacteria in a Coastal Microbial Mat
The first step of nitrification, the oxidation of ammonia to nitrite, can be performed by ammonia-oxidizing archaea (AOA) or ammonium-oxidizing bacteria (AOB). We investigated the presence of these two groups in three structurally different types of coastal microbial mats that develop along the tidal gradient on the North Sea beach of the Dutch barrier island Schiermonnikoog. The abundance and ...

Seeding of nitrifying bacteria into the activated sludge process was studied both theoretically and experimentally. A simple model was developed for prediction of the effects of seeding of nitrifying bacteria from a separate stage into the activated sludge process. The purpose of seeding is to improve the treatment results and the process stability as well as to decrease the volume requirements...
متن کاملDevelopment of simultaneous partial nitrification, anammox and denitrification (SNAD) process in a sequential batch reactor.
Simultaneous partial nitrification, anammox and denitrification (SNAD) process was developed in a sequential batch reactor (SBR) and the influence of hydraulic retention time (HRT) on the SNAD process was investigated. Around 96% NH(4)(+)-N removal and 87% COD removal were observed at 9 d HRT. Marginal decreases in the removal efficiencies were observed when the HRT was reduced to 3d or the loa...
متن کاملRemoval of nitrogen from wastewater using microalgae and microalgae–bacteria consortia
Exceeding nitrogen discharge into natural water bodies can lead to eutrophication in natural aquatic environments, as well as the decline in shellfish habitat and aquatic plant life. Currently, bacterial biological treatment process is the most common process employed in wastewater treatment plants, which requires extensive oxygen. The large demand for oxygen provided by mechanical aeration is ...
